NEW DELHI: Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter AB de Villiers believes that Virat Kohli didn't necessarily step away from the franchise's captaincy reins but rather supported the franchise's long-term call to hand over the leadership to Rajat Patidar.

Speaking at the 18th season of the TATA IPL on Star Sports Press Room on Explosive Rankings, the former South African star and Kohli’s longtime friend shared insights into what may have transpired behind closed doors.
