Detectives continuing to hunt gunmen who killed a second young man in London within the space of 24 hours spoke out against a “wall of silence”.

Camilo Palacio, 23, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest on High Road, Wood Green, at about 9.30pm on Sunday July 24.

Police, including firearms officers, immediately provided first aid until the arrival of London’s Air Ambulance and paramedics.

Mr Palacio, from Enfield, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene 30 minutes later.

His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Perry Benton, leading the investigation, said: “My officers are very keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify the person responsible for Camilo’s death.

“A young man’s life has been brutally ended on a public street and a family is now struggling to come to terms with their loss – if ever there was a time to break the wall of silence, this is it.

“If you have information, dash-cam or mobile phone footage relating to this murder, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, please do the right thing and get in touch.

“It doesn’t matter if you contact us in person or anonymously via Crimestoppers -but please share what you know.”

Mr Palacio’s death follows another shooting just over four miles away in Waltham Forest.

Sam Brown, 28, took himself to hospital after being blasted at a music gathering of 50 to 100 people in Cheney Row Park. One man, in his 30s, has been arrested and bailed.

The two fatal shootings follow another killing in the early hours of July 19, when 26-year-old Daneche Tison was shot outside a block of flats on Bruckner Street, Queen’s Park.

Seven people were arrested over the death and later released under investigation.

Up until then, there had been no firearms killings in London since Mohamed Muhiyidin, 28, was found blasted in the chest at the side of a road in Harlington on October 31 last year.

Meanwhile, a man is appearing in court today charged with murder after a woman fell 20ft from a building near Wembley Stadium.

Kathleen John, 39, was discovered outside the third floor of flat in London Road just before 2.30am on Friday.

Leonidas Georgalla 50, of Weald Lane, Harrow, will appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court.

Scotland Yard has launched 58 homicide investigation in 2022, compared with 74 by August 1 last year. The British Transport and City of London police forces have one each, taking the total to 60.

Eighteen victims are women, slightly higher than in 2021. Of 11 homicides flagged as domestic, one case features a woman accused of stabbing her fiancé to death.

Separately, a pedestrian in his 80s died after being hit by a car in Uxbridge Road, Pinner at about 5.30pm last night. The driver stopped at the scene.
