'Don’t get it twisted' - What Liverpool dressing room said about Everton Merseyside derby win

Liverpool moved one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League table after beating Everton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Andy Robertson headed the Reds ahead before substitute Divock Origi sealed all three points for Jurgen Klopp's side. However, the game was full of talking points.

Referee Stuart Attwell was forced into making numerous big calls throughout the 90 minutes as tempers flared - the first of those arriving in the first half. After a challenge by Abdoulaye Doucoure on Fabinho, things got heated between both sets of players.

Sadio Mane raised his hand to the faces of both Allan and Mason Holgate. But instead of a red card being shown, referee Attwell instead booked the forward. While Everton’s Richarlison was lucky to avoid a red card for a kick on Jordan Henderson in the dying stages of the game.

Next up for Liverpool is the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final against Villareal at Anfield. And below is a look at how some of Liverpool’s players reacted to yesterday’s win on social media.

Virgil van Dijk wrote on Twitter: "Don’t get it twisted, 3 points & 20th clean sheet of the season."

Andy Robertson said: "First goal Kop end. What a feeling!!"

While Fabinho, also writing on Twitter, said: "What a win! Until the end, boys!"

Speaking after the game, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: "He (Divock Origi) is a legend on and off the pitch, that is how it is. He is a fantastic footballer, for me.

I know that sounds ridiculous because I don't line him up often. He is a world-class striker. He is our best finisher, he always was, and everyone would say the same.

"You see these things in training and then he is not in the squad because of the quality of the other players. That is really hard. I imagine today was the same. There are other players not in the squad who are in really good shape.

"Really hard decisions to make because all the boys want to contribute and all are responsible for the situations we are in. But everyone loves Div and rightly so. He was again very decisive. I am very happy for him."
