Don Omar Expands His 'Back to Reggaetón' Tour with 18 New Dates

William Omar Landrón Rivera struggled with his artist persona of Don Omar for years. Addictions to drugs, alcohol, and sex fed his demons and kept him going in and out of the stage, to the dismay of his fans and the music industry, which considered him one of the greatest reggaeton artists in history.

Two years ago, Don Omar emerged as a new man, in peace, in love and living in Orlando, focused on family and feeling ready to return to music. He started to release songs and eventually a new album, described by Billboard as "a collection that not only symbolizes his return but also showcases his evolution as an artist." The critics hailed it as a sign of his timeless music and power in the Latin urban scene.

This spring, he was back on the stage with his 'Back to Reggaetón tour,' with incredible success.

Don Omar, the king

The initial leg of the 'Back to Reggaetón tour' was a testament to Don Omar's lasting appeal. Spanning various U.S. cities, the tour started with a bang in Reading, Pennsylvania, and moved to a packed Barclays Center in New York. The artist's presence on stage was commanding, as he emerged from a colossal rotating skull chair, exuding the aura of a post-apocalyptic overlord. It was clear that Don Omar was back, and he was better than ever.

Riding on the success of the first leg, which grossed $17.8 million and sold 146,000 tickets over 14 shows, Don Omar announced an expansion of the tour. The pre-sale of the new tickets will start on April 16th, and the official sale starts the next day.

The second leg, set to launch on August 7 in Oakland, Calif., after a four-month break, adds 18 more dates, including stops in San Diego, Portland, Tampa, and Ontario, Calif. This extension is a response to the overwhelming demand from fans and a reflection of the reggaeton star's massive appeal.

The 'Back to Reggaetón Tour'

Don Omar's tour is a celebration of a career that has spanned decades. It's his first major headlining tour in a decade and the first since the 'Kingdom Tour' with Daddy Yankee in 2015.

This tour is special for Don Omar: "I've never had the opportunity to sing my entire repertoire because I never have enough time onstage. But this tour demands two full hours of music," he said.

These two hours are a spectacle of energy and nostalgia, where he performs back-to-back hits like "Salió El Sol," "Hasta Abajo," "Pobre Diabla," "Ella y Yo," and "Dile." Each song resonates with the audience, taking them on a journey through the artist's extensive catalog.

During his performances, Don Omar also pays homage to the pioneers of reggaeton, performing medleys of songs by Héctor 'El Father' y Tito, Luny Tunes, Wisin y Yandel, and Daddy Yankee. This tribute not only showcases his respect for the genre's history but also highlights his role in shaping its future.
