Dominic Solanke reveals Tottenham dressing room reaction to relegation worries

Honest conversations: Dominic Solanke - (Getty Images)

Dominic Solanke has revealed the Tottenham players had a “big conversation” in the dressing room after losing to Crystal Palace.

Despite taking the lead in the 34th minute through Solanke, Spurs never recovered from Micky van de Ven’s red card four minutes later and fell to yet another disappointing home defeat on Thursday night.

The result leaves Tottenham a point clear of the relegation zone after suffering five consecutive losses in the Premier League.

Solanke has revealed that the Spurs players have acknowledged their position in the table and it has prompted some honest discussions.

"We've just had a big conversation," he said.

"We know the position we are in is definitely not where we want to be so we need to figure out how we are going to get out of it as soon as possible.

“We know there's been difficulties but we're not in a position to make any excuses anymore.

"We need to do the job on the pitch. It is easy to say we want to be better but we want to be better on the pitch. We need to fight and realise the position we are in.

"We know the club is not used to being in this position so we need to understand it and understand it's not going to be easy and we need to fight every single game, every single minute, to make sure we improve."

Spurs are next in action on Tuesday night, facing Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 showdown.

Tottenham then travel to Liverpool five days later, without the suspended Van de Ven, as they look for their first Premier League win of 2026.

Following the second leg against Atletico, Spurs host fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest on March 22 in what is shaping up to be another monumental match in their season.
