Dominic Matteo believes Leeds United need to use the home crowd to their advantage and attack Aston Villa at Elland Road on Sunday. The Whites finally make their return to Premier League action against Steven Gerrard’s side after just shy of a month without a match.
The break in the season has allowed Leeds to recuperate a number of players back to full fitness, but for Villa it is a different story. They are set to be without Boubacar Kamara, Lucas Digne, Matty Cash and Diego Carlos in West Yorkshire, all of whom are key first team players.
Leeds will be keen to return to winning ways in the Premier League after a run of just one point in their last three matches. Speaking on LUTV, former Whites defender Matteo thinks the crowd must be ‘drawn upon’ because Villa are there to be got at on Sunday.

He said: “I think we can get at Villa. I know they had a clean sheet in their last league game, but for me, at home, with this crowd at Elland Road, that’s what we’ve got to draw upon.
“We’ve got to draw upon our fans, the noise they bring, the energy and the players have got to be on that. I’m sure the manager will be telling the players, ‘These fans will get behind you. If you perform, they’ll back you 100 per cent.'”
