Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit but five Everton players ruled out vs Manchester United

Manchester United face off against Everton on Sunday night hoping to bounce back from the disappointing derby defeat by Manchester City last weekend.

The Reds were victorious in the Europa League on Thursday night as they defeated Omonia Nicosia, but will be without Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek for the upcoming clash with the Toffees. Raphael Varane was forced off against City, but Erik ten Hag insists he could return sooner than expected.

Everton have been much improved in recent weeks after losing their opening two matches, with Frank Lampard's side currently unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions. The Merseyside outfit have struggled with injuries so far this term and have several players unavailable for selection.

Ten Hag's men could be without four senior players for the Premier League clash, but their opponents will also be missing a number of first-team stars. However, striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back fit for Sunday's home game against United after suffering a "freak injury" just days before the opening fixture of the campaign against Chelsea.

Here is the current state of play on the Everton treatment table:

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Injury: Groin/hip/pelvic

Potential return date: October 9 vs United

What Lampard has said: "Yes, he's in contention. We'll have to see how match-fit he is but in terms of the injury; he's better. It's a really good boost."

Yerry Mina

Injury: Ankle/foot

Potential return date: October 15 vs Tottenham

What Lampard has said: "Yerry joined us in the past couple of days; Mason came in today for part of training. They're both working hard to get [back to full fitness]. This weekend comes too soon probably for both of them."

Mason Holgate

Injury: Knee

Potential return date: October 15 vs Tottenham

What Lampard has said: "Mason came in today for part of training. This weekend comes too soon probably, but we hope with a good week's training next week [he] can be in contention from then on."

Nathan Patterson

Injury: Ankle/foot

Potential return date: TBC

What Lampard has said: "It's a blow for us all. He's been fantastic; his level of performance this season has been great. I think the 4-5 weeks is probably a bit positive from what our first thoughts were. Let's hope we can get him back quickly."

Andros Townsend

Injury: Knee

Potential return date: TBC

What Townsend has said: "If I am feeling right, I could rejoin [the squad] just before the World Cup, but I’d like to think worst case, I’ll be back after."

Ben Godfrey

Injury: Calf/shin/heel

Potential return date: TBC

What Lampard has said: "Ben underwent successful surgery this morning on the fractured fibula he sustained against Chelsea. The defender is expected to be out for around three months."
