A domestic abuser from Lanarkshire claimed he defied a court order and went back to live with his on-off partner on the day he was freed from prison.
Airdrie Sheriff Court heard Stephen Walker justified the blatant offence by saying the woman wanted him back.
Walker appeared from custody and admitted twice failing to comply with a non-harassment order imposed at the same court in August last year.
This banned him from any contact with his partner for three years.
Lauren Cole, prosecuting, said Walker turned up at the woman's home in Sycamore Drive, Airdrie, on December 18.
When she opened the door he walked past her towards the living room. She went upstairs and called the police.
Mrs Cole said Walker was arrested, held in custody and eventually given bail, but on April 19 a friend phoned the woman at 5.30am to say Walker was outside.
The fiscal stated: "She opened the door and advised him to take his stuff and leave. However, he stood at the front door and she contacted the police."
Sheriff Derek Livingston referred to information provided by Walker for a social work report.
The sheriff stated: "He says that, despite the non-harassment order, he lived with his partner from the day he was released from prison.
"He tries to justify this by claiming that is what she wants.
"However, I've heard that she calls the police. One of them is not telling the truth and that gives me a difficulty."
The court heard the couple have been in an on-off relationship for eight years.
Walker claimed that the second breach happened because his partner asked him to pick up his belongings from the house.
He has been in custody since his arrest in April and defence agent Mark Lutton told the court: "While in prison he received a card to mark their eighth anniversary."
Sheriff Livingston deferred sentence for clarification of the woman's attitude towards Walker, who was again remanded in custody.
