The Miami Dolphins won’t be in primetime in Week 17 after all.
A road game against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 29 was officially moved by the NFL from an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff to 4:05 p.m. ET. Instead, it’s the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders who will play under the lights on Sunday night.
Last season, both the Dolphins and Browns were playoff teams, that each earned a wild card berth with an 11-6 record. This year, Miami’s postseason hopes are circling the drain after the team fell to 6-8 on the year with a loss on Sunday. Cleveland is already eliminated at 3-11.
Washington and Atlanta are battling for the last wild card spots in the NFC this season with 9-5 and 7-7 records, respectively.
The Dolphins played four primetime games earlier this season and won just one of them. The first was a 31-10 loss at home to the Buffalo Bills on a Thursday night. Two weeks later, with Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve, the Dolphins lost 31-12 to the Tennessee Titans on a Monday night.
More recently, the Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Rams on a Monday night, 23-15, and Miami lost to the Green Bay Packers, 30-17, on Thanksgiving evening.
