It’s been an awfully quiet year by Tyreek Hill’s lofty standards. After becoming the first receiver in NFL history with back-to-back 1,700-yard seasons, Hill needs a strong finish to even crack 1,000 yards this season.
There’s a strong chance that he’ll miss the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career and some have argued that he’s washed.
“If it’s declining, then it is what it is. A lot of people have their opinions. I’m here to do my job,” Hill told reporters Thursday. “I’m here just to be the best version of myself. I’m comfortable with that, my teammates know who I am. I’m going to continue to bust my tail every day at practice because that’s just my mindset.
“I’ve always been an underdog. Fifth-round draft pick, people said I wasn’t this, people said I wasn’t that. Then when I became, then it was like, ‘Oh, he can be,’ but now it’s ‘I’m declining.’ People are always going to have something to say whether you’re doing good or bad. I’m just grateful to be in the limelight right now.”
Hill, who was named the No. 1 player on the annual NFL Top 100 earlier this year, signed a restructured deal with the Dolphins earlier this year that keeps him with the franchise through the 2026 season.
In 14 games this year, Hill has 67 receptions for 805 yards and five touchdowns. He recorded at least seven offensive touchdowns in each of the first eight seasons of his career.
