When the Miami Dolphins signed Chase Edmonds to a two-year, $12.6 million contract this offseason, there was a strong belief that he would lead Miami’s backfield and have a productive season in Mike McDaniel’s system.
However, through five games, the former Arizona Cardinal has rushed for just 86 yards and two touchdowns on three yards per carry. Raheem Mostert, Edmonds’ backfield teammate, had been much more successful, rushing for 260 yards and one touchdown on 4.6 yards per attempt.
This week, Edmonds spoke about his start to the year, and how it’s affecting him.
“I’m always a big time self reflector,” Edmonds said, transcribed by the Miami Herald. “I’ve got to play better. The last two weeks, I had a couple of uncharacteristic drops, let it get to my head. I think I’ve had more drops the last two weeks than my whole career.
“I’ve got to bounce back. I’ll be back to playing how Chase Edmonds plays. In life, you always have storms you go through. I’ll bounce back and be all right.”
With Mostert dealing with a knee injury, there’s a chance that Edmonds gets more opportunities in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings, and he’ll need to capitalize on those if he wants to turn his season around.
