Mike McDaniel has a lot on his plate.
The first-year head coach of the Miami Dolphins took over a 9-8 team that spent the 2022 offseason loading up on veteran talent. Miami added impact players like Tyreek Hill and Terron Armstead, completely overhauled its running back platoon by signing veterans like Sony Michel, Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert, and kept vital contributors like Mike Gesicki and Xavien Howard around with new deals.
That’s left him with a lot to handle now that training camp has begun. And it’s taken him away from some of the important things in life. Like Yeezy Day.
Yeezy Day is Adidas’ annual release of Kanye West’s shoe line at retail prices. Failing to snag a pair at the moment they go on sale means you’ll likely be stuck paying exorbitant resale costs to snag some of sneakerheads’ most valued kicks. And while McDaniel can afford to hit eBay and bid up a pair for way over retail, that doesn’t mean he’s not sad he’s missing out.

“Man, training camp. You lose sight of everything,” McDaniel told ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques. “Like national holidays such as that.”
Three Yeezy styles dropped while McDaniel was busy tending to his team, per GQ: 450s in “Utility Black,” 350s in “Static” gray and 700s in “Static” and “Analog” beige. More are expected to hit the market as Yeezy Day rolls on, so maybe McDaniel isn’t totally out of luck yet.
