In a comeback for the ages, the Dolphins have made tough forward Tom Gilbert their new captain after his inspirational return from injury.

The 24-year-old Queensland powerhouse was announced as the new skipper at the club's season launch on Friday, following foundation captain Jesse Bromwich's retirement at the end of last season.
