Six days before her death, Dolly Parton published a Substack entry revisiting a half-century-old song about being misjudged, and in the wake of her passing, its opening lines now read like an unplanned goodbye.
The post, titled 'Songteller: Shattered Image', was the third instalment in a series exploring the stories behind her music. It went live on 19 August 2026. Parton died six days later, on 25 August, her family confirmed.
