Dollar Strength Weighs on Sugar Prices

May NY world sugar #11 (SBK25) Wednesday closed down -0.16 (-0.82%), and May London ICE white sugar #5 (SWK25) closed down -4.40 (-0.81%).

Sugar prices Wednesday settled moderately lower as strength in the dollar (DXY00) weighed on most commodity prices, including sugar.  Sugar prices have rallied over the past two weeks, with NY sugar posting a 1-month high last Tuesday and London sugar posting a 4-month high on signs of lower global sugar production.
