Dog walker finds message in a bottle that travelled 250km from Merseyside

A man in Ireland was amazed when he found a 20-year-old message in a bottle that had travelled all the way from Merseyside.

Brian Golden, from Wexford Town in south-east Ireland, was walking his three dogs along Curracloe Beach when he came across the bottle on Thursday, April 28. He often picks up stray plastic bottles to recycle but never expected to find anything interesting.

Brian, 36, saw the message mentioned “Eastham Ferry” and realised the letter must have floated to Ireland from the Merseyside area around 250km away. It is dated June 21, 2002, when England played Brazil in the quarter-final of the world cup.
