Dog owners disgusted after clip shows two men refusing to pick up pet's poo

Residents living in a seaside town have been left disgusted after a video emerged of two men refusing to pick up their dog's poo while on a walk.

The CCTV footage shows the men walking along Cleethorpes North Promenade, in Cleethorpes, late at night.

The pair can be seen staring at the pet with their hands in their pockets as it fouls on the street, and at one stage one of them brazenly lights up a cigarette.

The two men and the dog then walk off, without picking up the poo from the pavement, reports Grimsby Live.

Residents living in Cleethorpes have been left infuriated by the incident, with some claiming it puts a bad name on the responsible dog owners who do clear up after their pets.

Rachel Ives said: "No wonder the council kick us off the beach during summer when people behave like this. Puts a bad name for other dog owners like myself."

Kim Sated said: "I find it infuriating that people are so irresponsible with their dogs.

"I have four large dogs and always clean up after them, but the amount of poo on the streets is embarrassing to a responsible owner."

Joanne Houghton said: "Disgusting. Poo bags aren't even expensive!

"You can get a pack of five rolls from most shops for around £2.

"Hell, grab a box of nappy bags for £1 if you need to, absolutely no excuse!"

James Barker added: "Bring back the dog license and have all dogs on a DNA database.

"First offence should be a heavy fine, proportional to income. The second offence should be a bigger fine."

In a statement, North East Lincolnshire Council said anyone who does not pick up after their dog will be fined £100.

“Please report problem areas to us at www.nelincs.gov.uk/dog-mess so we can help tackle it," they said.

“Sharing information with us helps to target patrols at the right time and in the right location.

“Most dog owners take responsibility for their pets, unfortunately a careless few choose not to.

“Enforcement officers will fine anyone £100 for not picking up after their dog or not carrying a bag or other means to pick up their dog’s mess.”
