A dog was found abandoned "in a very poor condition" with his tail recently amputated on a Wishaw road.
The brindle lurcher was discovered by a member of the public on Meadowhead Road on Tuesday, May 17.
He was taken to the Scottish SPCA Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, with the charity now putting out an appeal for more information following the incident.
Scottish SPCA inspector, Jack Marshall, said: "He is in very poor condition and his tail appears to recently have been amputated.
“The dog is chipped to an address in Newcastle but unfortunately these details appear to be out of date.
“We believe that he may have come from the Bellshill area."
The Scottish charity are appealing for anyone with information, or anyone who recognises the dog, to get in touch with them by calling their confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
