The Dodgers are in Milwaukee on their current road trip, with the team set to stay at the renowned Pfister Hotel.
At least one player won’t be staying with the team, however.
Star outfielder Mookie Betts has opted out of staying at the Pfister Hotel, due to its history of being haunted.
Per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, Betts has instead decided to rent an Airbnb property, which he will share with friends in order to avoid running the risk of any phantasmic occurrences.
Betts has stayed at the Pfister during recent road trips to Milwaukee, but ahead of this week’s matchup against the Brewers, he apparently isn’t taking any chances.
“I couldn’t sleep. Every noise I’d be like ‘Is that something?’” Betts said of his previous stay at the hotel.
The 30-year-old said he doesn’t believe in ghosts, but he was adamant that he’d rather play it safe than find out he’s wrong.
The Dodgers and Brewers played their first of three games on Monday. They play again Tuesday before the series wraps up Wednesday, at which point the team will return to Los Angeles for a series against the rival Padres.
The Pfister Hotel has plenty of history, having opened in 1893. Various ballplayers have mentioned nervy tales of their stay at the landmark, including Phillies star Bryce Harper, who claimed that he awoke to his clothes on the floor and a table having been moved to the opposite side of his hotel room.
