The pair have been married since 2008 and met while at University at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and since then he has gone on to have a successful career.
Christian was born in Belize and is 35, his credits include the 2012 film Zero Dark Thirty, the 2018 TV drama Strangers, and the 2020 TV series Soulmates. In 2013 he worked alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in the film The Fifth Estate and Brad Pitt in the war movie Fury in 2014.
Jodie and Christian had their first child in 2015 and Jodie recently revealed at the Brit Awards in February 2022 that she is pregnant and expecting their second child later in 2022.
They kept the pregnancy very low-key as Jodie appears to be heavily pregnant on the red carpet and the couple currently live in London.
The Yorkshire-born star also has a tragic family story as her nephew, Harry Whittaker who was a child actor in the ITV soap Emmerdale, sadly died aged just three. Harry had Down's Syndrome and played Leo Dingle in Emmerdale before he passed away in 2014.
Before Jodie became Doctor Who she starred in the 2006 film Venus and had also acted in theatre before this. Her other film roles include starring in The Kid and the 2009 Irish comedy film Perrier's Bounty.
The 39-year-old has also starred in the hit ITV drama Broadchurch, alongside former Doctor Who David Tennant and the popular BBC medical drama Trust Me.
In 2017 she became the 13th Doctor Who, and the first female actress to take the role, which had a mixed reception from fans of the sci-fi series.
Many supported the change for the character however some argued that Doctor Who was always meant to be a male character and Jodie urged fans to accept this new step.
Jodie played the Doctor for the 11th, 12th, and 13th series and in 2021 announced she would no longer play the Doctor after three special episodes in 2022. Filming for these episodes has taken place but no air dates for the show have been released yet.
Jodie's episode of Who Do You Think You Are will air on BBC One on Wednesday, February, 16 at 9pm. However, in Wales, it's available on iPlayer.
