Doctor Who's David Tennant makes return in epic ending as Jodie Whittaker bows out

David Tennant caused a Doctor Who meltdown on Sunday night as he made a return to the iconic BBC show, as Jodie Whittaker bowed out of the role.

Des actor David originally took over the covered role from Christopher Eccleston in 2005 and stayed in it for close to five years, making his first appearance as the Doctor in The Christmas Invasion and his final one in End of Time in 2010, when he made way for Matt Smith to step into the tardis.

Josie made her debut as the Doctor in 2017 episode The Woman Who Fell to Earth, and, after serving nearly five years as the Time Lord with the worldwide fanbase, she ended her stint as Doctor Who returned for feature length special The Power of the Doctor on Sunday, October 23.

Anticipation was so high for the extended 90 minute episode, also featuring the likes of John Bishop, Bradley Walsh and former Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, that the Strictly results show was shunted out of its usual time slot to make way with it, as millions of eyes were glued on BBC One from 7.30-9pm.

And, right before credits rolled, Jodie took the limelight for a final time as she said her goodbyes and then looked into the sun, saying: "Right then, Doctor Whoever I'm about to be...tag you're it."
