Peter Capaldi has gone viral after fans 'spotted' him everywhere from Scotland's lochs and Sydney Opera House to Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong.
The former Doctor Who star, who played the ever popular twelfth doctor on the hit BBC show, left in 2017 after three series.
Now that the BBC is filming the 60th anniversary edition and fellow Scot former Time Lord David Tennant has been announced in a returning role, fans are hoping that Peter's name will be next.
As the excitement grew at the prospect of past doctors rejoining the show and Peter's name was constantly being mentioned, online followers thought they'd have some fun by claiming they'd seen him on his way to set.
The initial 'fake' posts sparked so much attention that others joined in with wild claims about where they'd spotted Glasgow-born Peter.
One person said :"Just saw Peter Capaldi walk out big tescos."
Another claimed: "Just saw Peter Capaldi swimming in a loch. unreal."
A third wrote excitedly: "I JUST MET PETER CAPALDI IN WESTMINSTER MCDONALDS HOLY SH** HE ORDERED A LARGE BIG MAC MEAL WITH SPRITE ZERO AND NO PICKLES.
And a fourth claimed: "Just met Peter Capaldi at the Tazmanian Ballroom in Lan Kwai Fong. He downed six shots of vodka, punched the DJ, put on Doctor In Distress, and did a breakdance. He then preceded to jump off the balcony, steal a car, and is currently on his way to abduct Carrie Lam."
One fan decided to put all the Tweets into perspective and said: "Doctor Who fans: *sees a human at the set of doctor who* Also Doctor Who fans: OMG GUYS I JUST SAW PETER CAPALDI AT SET NO WAYYYYYYY."
It didn't stop others from joining in with the fun with another claiming: "I JUST MET PETER CAPALDI AT SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE HE WAS WATCHING SIX AND HE WAS SINGING ALONG TO HAUS OF HOLBEIN!!!!!!#DoctorWho (I've seen like 4 of these I think there really funny)."
