A doctor has highlighted the symptoms of 'silent killer' ovarian cancer. Around 7,000 women are diagnosed with it in the UK every year.
Of those, two-thirds are diagnosed at a later stage, making treatment harder. That is often the case - and the reason for the 'silent killer' name - because warning signs often develop only when the disease has reached an advanced, largely incurable, stage.
Indeed, according to Target Ovarian Cancer, nearly half of GPs hold the mistaken belief that symptoms only present in later stages of the illness.
