One expert has urged people to be careful when trying some popular hacks to cool down amid the heatwave.
It comes as ITV’s Kate Garraway shared that she was struggling to sleep in the intense heat.
Good Morning Britain's doctor Sarah Jarvis warned viewers about the dangers of some of the most popular cooling hacks that people have been trying in recent days.
On yesterday’s show, the panel were discussing how to keep cool during the long muggy nights, with some suggesting to fill up a hot water bottle with cold water and stick it into the freezer.
Kate said that she had tried this, telling the viewers: “It does work, it does help definitely."
However, Dr Sarah Jarvis was on hand to warn about having a cold shower before bed, before also telling viewers to exercise caution with the hot water bottle hack too.
She advised: "We don't want to have a really cold shower. If you have a cool shower and then allow the water to evaporate off your skin. It will definitely help cool you down."
Sarah then added: "They stole my idea about the cold hot water bottles, but please don't forget; never put ice directly onto your skin because that can cause ice burns.
“But a cool flannel around your neck, and possibly putting sheets in the freezer, but not again risking any ice burns, can help."
Kate got confused though, unsure how to fit a whole duvet into a freezer, but Sarah was quick to point out that wasn't the case.
She said: "Oh I think I had in my mind a duvet," with Sarah adding: "Yeah a bit different, don't need one of those at the minute."
Earlier in the show, Kate shared that she tried “the whole dipping your bed sheet in water”.
“It does work a bit but then you get too chilly,” she told co-stars Adil Ray and Laura Tobin.
