Jurgen Klopp has reiterated his disagreement with Gareth Southgate over Trent Alexander-Arnold but said the England manager's decision to omit the Liverpool defender over the international break is a "normal situation".

Alexander-Arnold was an unused substitute in the Three Lions' 1-0 defeat to Italy on September 23 as they were relegated from the Nations League after going 495 minutes without a goal in open play.

Alexander-Arnold was then left out entirely as England played out a 3-3 draw with Germany on Monday evening, leading to an intense debate across the media about the merits of the Liverpool man.
