The NFL changed their rules this season regarding jersey numbers and will allow players to wear No. 0. It just so happens, new Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington wore No. 0 at the University of Georgia. So it only makes sense that he would be the first Steelers player to wear it as well.
Pittsburgh selected Washington in the third round of the 2023 NFL to add punch to the run game as a blocker as well as the passing game.
Back in March, Washington sent out this tweet after the news broke about the rule change. Seems he was ready so Pittsburgh needs to make this happen.

The Steelers also drafted Washington’s Georgia teammate Broderick Jones. Jones will change his jersey number from No. 59 to No. 77 in honor of his friend Devin Willock who was killed in a car accident after Georgia’s National championship game. Willock and Jones were roommates as well as teammates.
