Travis Kelce’s representatives have rubbished rumours that he is breaking up with Taylor Swift, calling a reported break-up contract ‘entirely false’.
The American footballer’s PR staff have rushed to speak out after a claims that the pair’s relationship was a ‘showmance’ heading for an imminent end.
The pair have been romantically involved since July 2023 and officially dating since December of last year. Kelce has even been the special guest at a show during Swift’s Eras tour while she has been seen cheering him on at his NFL matches.
But rumours began circulating this week that they had a break-up contract.
Here is what has – and has not – happened.
What is Taylor Swift’s ‘break-up contract’?
Early this week, a document allegedly with the Full Scope PR logo, with the headline "Comprehensive Media Plan for Travis Kelce's Public Relations Following Breakup With Taylor Swift", became popular on Reddit and then expanded to other social media platforms.
In an attempt to "manage and mitigate the fallout from the breakup between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, ensuring Travis Kelce retains a positive public image, minimizes negative media portrayal, and continues to build his personal and professional brand”, the several-page-long plan purports to be the guide for drafting Kelce's public statement.
According to the document, Kelce's team intends to make the announcement of the split public on September 28, "three days post-breakup to allow initial media frenzy to settle and ensure clarity”.According to the plan, Kelce will undertake a few interviews with publications such as ESPN, Vanity Fair, and People magazine. It also includes talking points, such as highlighting "his respect for Taylor Swift and the mutual decision to part ways”.
Full Scope PR has denied its involvement and said the piece has been “fabricated”.
Is Travis Kelce relationship a PR stunt?
According to Full Scope PR, no employee of the agency was involved in the document's creation, and the company's legal team is looking into the identity of the person who used the agency's logo without authorisation and pretended to be an employee.
The post's original Reddit page has subsequently been removed.
Jack Ketsoyan for Full Scope told the Daily Mail that the document is “entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued or authorised by this agency”.
“We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents,” the spokesman said.
What have Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce said?
Swift and her team have not commented on the document.
Kelce hasn’t said anything either, and his people has vehemently contested its veracity and declared that they intend to take legal action.
Everything does seem okay between the pair as he spoke glowingly of Swift hours before the leak.
In an interview on Tuesday, September 3, he gave details about his unexpected entrance at her Wembley Stadium concert during the Eras tour in June.
Kelce said: “Taylor knew, when the lights are on, I'm going to have some fun. She put me in a position where I didn't have to do much for it to be a success.
“I'm always down to have some fun on stage with Tay Tay.” he added.
The Standard has contacted Travis Kelce’s representatives at Full Scope PR for comment.
