“It is crucial that Alexander Carr is located as soon as possible as he is a key person that police need to speak to in connection with this murder,” said Fleur Brown, regional manager at Crimestoppers North East.
“This is why our charity is offering a reward and appealing for anonymous information. If you know where Alexander Carr is, or where he may be staying, I urge you not to approach him but to speak to us.”
Northumbria Police believe Carr is aware he is wanted and is actively avoiding arrest. He is known to have links to Newcastle city centre, Jesmond and Sunderland.
The force has carried out a number of extensive searches at his associated properties, and is urging anyone who knows where he is to get in contact.
"We are determined to locate and apprehend him as soon as possible and continue to ask for the public's support with this,” superintendent Lyn Peart, of Northumbria Police, said last night.
"If you recognise him, or think you know where he may be, please let us know immediately. Members of the public are asked not to approach Carr. Instead, alert police if you have seen him."
If you have seen Carr, or know any information of his whereabouts, please contact Northumbria Police immediately by calling 999 quoting crime number 143632K/22.
Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
