DNC Launches Ad Targeting Green Party Candidate Jill Stein

Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Green Bay

The Democratic National Committee has unveiled a new ad campaign aimed at Green Party candidate Jill Stein in key battleground states in the Midwest. The ad accuses Stein of being a 'spoiler' in the upcoming election and suggests that voting for her would ultimately benefit former President Donald Trump.

The ad, set to air in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, as well as on national cable networks, points to Stein's alleged role in Trump's victory in 2016. It features a clip of Trump praising Stein and insinuates that she is collaborating with Trump allies to boost his chances in the 2020 election.

Despite Stein's denials of any involvement in Trump's 2016 win, Democrats argue that her vote share in crucial states like Wisconsin may have contributed to Trump's success. The ad warns voters that 'a vote for Stein is really a vote for Trump' and portrays Stein morphing into an image of the former president.

Stein's campaign recently faced a legal battle in Nevada, where she enlisted the help of conservative activist Jay Sekulow, a former attorney for Trump. The Supreme Court ultimately upheld a lower court ruling blocking Stein from the state's ballot.

In a statement, DNC senior adviser Mary Beth Cahill emphasized the importance of preventing Stein from 'spoiling' the election. Cahill highlighted the high stakes of the upcoming election and urged voters to consider the potential impact of supporting a third-party candidate.

The ad campaign underscores the ongoing debate surrounding third-party candidates and their influence on major elections. With the 2020 election rapidly approaching, both major parties are intensifying their efforts to sway undecided voters and prevent any potential 'spoilers' from affecting the outcome.
