On Thursday, DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison issued a strong response to Senator Bernie Sanders' comments regarding the Democratic Party's relationship with the working class. Sanders had suggested that Democrats had lost the support of working class individuals.
In a post on November 6, Sanders stated, 'It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.'
Harrison quickly fired back at Sanders, dismissing his claims as 'straight up BS.' He highlighted President Biden's efforts to support working class Americans, citing actions such as saving Union pensions, creating millions of good paying jobs, and actively participating in labor movements.
Harrison emphasized the impact of Biden's policies, including initiatives like child tax credits, financial assistance for home down payments, and expanded Medicare coverage for senior health care. He argued that these measures were designed to improve the quality of life for working people and address racial wealth disparities.
Refuting Sanders' assertion that the Democratic Party had neglected the working class, Harrison pointed to the tangible benefits that Biden's administration had delivered to Americans across the country. He concluded his response by stating, 'There are a lot of post-election takes and this one ain't a good one.'
Harrison's post garnered significant attention, accumulating over 18,000 likes on the platform where it was shared.
