CHENNAI: The DMK and political parties in Tamil Nadu on Monday accused the Union government of “preventing” chief minister M K Stalin’s video message from being telecast at an event in Colombo on November 2 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Indian-origin or ‘Malaiyaha’ Tamils being taken from India to work in tea plantations in Sri Lanka.
The video message of the chief minister was released to the local media after the event organised by Sri Lanka water supply and estate infrastructure development minister Jeevan Thondaman in Colombo on Thursday failed to telecast it. The event was attended by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Congress MP Sashi Tharoor, BJP state president K Annamalai, AIADMK MLA (Gudalur) Pon Jayaseelan among others.
