The Seattle Seahawks’ star wide receiver, DK Metcalf, is once again the subject of controversy. Following Seattle’s blowout loss to San Francisco, the former Ole Miss standout was once again in an altercation that led directly to a fine. Metcalf was ultimately ejected from the game, with the result already determined.
Now, Metcalf faces another hefty fine.
Key fines from last week:
— #Seahawks WR DK Metcalf fined $19,123 for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
— #Titans DB Amani Hooker fined $21,855 for Unnecessary Roughness.
— #Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson fined $21,855 for a hit on a QB.

I have been critical of Metcalf’s control issues repeatedly on this website, but this is one instance where I will defend him. This is not a typical situation where he started some beef for no reason. This was solely started by San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner.
The dangerous and indefensible action committed by Warner can be seen here.
Unfortunately, DK Metcalf’s reputation is becoming well known around the league. Players know they can elicit a highly emotional response from him, which will lead to their team’s advantage when playing the Seahawks.
It is clear the preposterously large fine amount is driven from Metcalf’s history on the field. The NFL is trying to send a message, and for the sake of Metcalf’s bank account, here’s hoping he can do his best to limit his reactions moving forward.
