An unflappable Novak Djokovic delivered a vintage display to cruise into the Australian Open second round and kick off his latest bid for a record-breaking 25th grand slam title.

Hard-running Spanish scrapper Pedro Martinez loomed as an opponent who could drag out Monday night's first-round clash at Rod Laver Arena.
