Djed Spence returns to Tottenham after Leeds active break clause in loan deal

Djed Spence has returned to Tottenham from loan at Leeds United after the Championship club activated a break clause in his season-long deal.

Spence, 23, made just seven appearances in an injury-hit spell after joining Leeds at the end of the summer window but was recently enjoying a spell in the team, featuring in six straight games over December and starting five.

He has typically been used at left-back rather than on his preferred right side following his return from a knee injury in November.

Spence made his Leeds debut from the bench against Millwall in September before suffering knee ligament damage, which ruled him out for the next 12 matches.

He was deemed surplus to requirements by new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou in the summer but will now return to his parent club.

Sergio Reguilon has also returned to Spurs after Manchester United terminated the Spaniard's season-long loan.

Of Spurs' other loanees, Japhet Tanganga is yet to make a single appearance in an injury-plagued move to German club Augsburg, while Tanguy Ndombele has struggled to consistently perform for Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

Joe Rodon, who also moved to Elland Road on a season-long deal, is impressing in the Championship, however.
