His first piece of advice may be slightly obvious but important - stay warmed up. He said: “Warm up before you get started! With the excitement of the day, it’s easy to forget to stretch and limber up, and trust me, you don’t want to get a cramp or a stitch.”
Secondly, Dev says food and drink is key. He said: “Make sure you have plenty of water and load yourself with carbs the night before, this has really helped get me through my runs.”
His third tip is to choose your clothes wisely. He said: “Wear something bright if you have people coming to watch you run. It doesn’t have to be fancy dress, but this will help you stand out.”
For his fourth piece of advice, Dev says a steady pace is important. He said: “It’s easy to get excited and run quicker than you usually would on race day. Find a TalkTalk pacer running at your goal speed and they’ll make sure you don’t tire yourself out too early.”
Lastly, Dev said enjoying the atmosphere was important. He said: “Soak it all in. The race day will go by fast, so make sure you pause and take a moment to be proud of yourself and enjoy having the crowd there cheering you on.”
TalkTalk is providing the post-run celebrations, including podium posing, face painting, and pick ‘n’ mix and prizes. And spectators can get free banners at its Cheer Zone.
General manager of full fibre at TalkTalk Becki Smith said: “We’re excited to be sponsoring this year’s Great Bristol Run and look forward to cheering all the runners on. The sponsorship coincides with our rollout of Full Fibre across Bristol which offers residents the UK’s fastest, most reliable broadband technology at great TalkTalk value.”
