DIY disasters have left the average homeowner £664 out of pocket – with more than one in ten even having to visit A&E after a botched home improvement project.
Nearly a third (29%) of adults on the housing ladder have had a DIY job go wrong in their current property, according to a study of 2,064 homeowners.
And while nearly half (45%) prefer to try their hand at DIY rather than hire a tradesperson initially, 70% have been left having to call in a professional to fix their mistakes.
