DIY couple transform truck camper into chic home for under £400 with Shein hack

A money-savvy couple has shared how they transformed a camper truck into a beautiful home for under £400 thanks to DIY tricks.

Stefano Desideri and Sasha Rebekah, who are better known as the duo behind Gypseas On The Road, regularly share their travels on YouTube. But the couple's latest adventure was based closer to home - as it involved renovating their tiny home.

The pair previously lived in Mexico in a shuttle bus they renovated, but they sold the vehicle after deciding to downsize to a campervan.

After realising their budget would not stretch to a camper that had already been renovated, they decided to put the work in themselves.

"We knew that we could purchase something cheaper and make it look nice with just a couple of weeks of work and a little bit of money," the couple told LatestDeals.co.uk. "Sasha always wanted a gold faucet in the bus build but it wasn't in our budget. She found an affordable one on Amazon and we based the renovation around it."

They also decided to stick to light, bright colours in the kitchen and dining area given it is a small space but added green to create 'jungle vibes'. As for the supplies, the couple shopped around to find the best deals.

"We got most of the supplies from Home Depot, IKEA and Amazon. From Amazon we got a faucet for $69 (£55), a sink for $160 (£127), subway tile backsplash for $32 (£25), gold curtain rods which were $40 (£32) for 3 and waterproof vinyl for the countertop and tabletop priced at $15 (£12).

"From Home Depot we got the paint for $30 (£24), silicone for $10 (£8), gold spray paint for $10 (£8), heat-proof black spray paint for the stovetop for $15 (£12), heat-proof white spray paint for the stovetop which was also $15 (£12) and plumbing fixtures for sink which totalled $25 (£20).

"At IKEA we got a spice rack for $5 (£4), and we got the curtain fabric at a fabric store. Sasha's mum sewed it for us."

Meanwhile, they found couch covers that 'really transformed the dining area', for $20 (£16) from SHEIN, $80 (£63) less than they would have paid if they purchased from one of the store's competitors.

"We think this was the best $20 spent in the renovation!" the homeowners said.

In total, they spent less than $500 (£396) - but think it was worth every penny. "We think it was well worth it for the level of transformation we created!" the proud pair said.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, added: "The renovation that Stefano and Sasha have done on their camper van kitchen and dining area is truly impressive. By using their building skills and creativity, they were able to transform their camper into a beautiful and personalized space for a fraction of the cost of buying a pre-renovated model.

"It's great to see that they were able to save money by shopping smartly for their supplies, and even found a great deal on cushion covers from SHEIN. This project is a great example of how a little bit of DIY and ingenuity can go a long way in creating a space that feels like home, no matter where you are in the world."
