Some Indian citizens are trying to create problems for the country in conspiracy with foreign agents, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said in Belagavi on Tuesday.
Such divisive forces are trying to disturb peace in society. “We will train our police force to trace such people and prevent any law and order problems,” the Home Minister said at the passing-out parade of trainee constables at the KSRP Training Centre in Machche.
He said that the State Police will be trained in arms usage, criminal psychology and emerging trends in tackling crime. They will be equipped with state-of-the-art tools to investigate new age crimes, he said.
He said that the State Government will build 20,000 houses for police personnel. The department wants to provide residential quarters to all police constables and officers, he said.
He said that 950 vacant posts of police sub-inspector will be filled soon. The process has already begun, he said. There are around 25,000 constable posts that have remained vacant in the State. They will be filled in phases. “We are filling around 4,000 vacancies now,” he said.
He said that State is a pioneer in increasing the proportion of women in the police force. “We now have women in all cadres of the police force. They are trained in martial arts and other skills. This is a matter of pride,” he said.
He said that 100 select police stations are being upgraded at a cost of ₹200 crore.
Additional Director-General of Police Alok Kumar, Police Commissioner M.B. Boralingaiah, Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi, KSRP commandant Hamza Hussain and others were present.
