Vladimir Harutyunyan had a painful afternoon at the European Championships final performing two 'hammering' belly flops during the competition final, leaving commentators asking how he got back up.
The 24-year-old had been the final qualifier for the 12-diver men's platform final beating three other competitors in qualification. However, he was cut well adrift of the leaders in the final after performing two excruciating belly flop dives, which failed to please judges.
Harutyunyan crashed into the water with BBC commentator Leon Taylor stating: "I don't know whether he's got all of his body parts? He might need to go back into the pool and collect a few things after that.
"After that massive over-rotation right onto the crown jewels." The seven judges were also less than impressed with the dive giving him between 0.5 and one each to total 7.20.
Not deterred Harutyunyan continued the competition only to belly flop into the water, again being marked down by judges. Taylor added: "He's done it again. He's probably only just recovered from landing on those during his three and a half (spins)."
"He's taken an absolute hammering, right in that section of the body again. My eyes are watering, how is he keep getting up and taking that hit?"
The final was dominated by Ukrainian Oleksii Sereda who took gold and was given perfect 10s by judges for his final dive. Great Britain pair Noah Williams and Ben Cutmore took silver and bronze respectively.
