Distressing scenes as 'man falls from top floor of house' and paramedics perform CPR

Police sealed off a large area of a major Liverpool road this evening where a man is understood to have fallen from a top-floor window.

The incident occurred on Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, at around 10pm on Sunday night. Merseyside Police and paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service attended the scene, and a large cordon was put in place between the junctions with Inglis Road and Goodacre Road.

Witnesses at the scene told the ECHO that man had reportedly fallen from an upstairs window of a terraced house on Longmoor Lane. The man was said to have hit the railings outside the property as he fell to the ground.

Those present described distressing scenes as paramedics performed emergency first aid. One man, who said he witnessed the fall, was said to be "in shock". He said he "saw a body tumbling". Other people at the scene told the ECHO that they "felt so sorry" for the victim.

Scientific support officers in white protective suits could be seen carrying out investigative work at the scene which appeared to centre around a three-storey terraced property with a skylight type window on the top floor. Sheets had been placed on the pavement outside.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were attending the incident but said they could not comment at this stage.
