Rush hour trains were suspended on a major Metro route following reports of a trespasser on a bridge.

During the period of disruption, tickets were accepted on Go North East and all Stagecoach buses that run between St Peters and South Hylton. The incident has since been resolved but small delays were expected while Metro operators Nexus worked to return trains to timetable.
