A disqualified driver who led officers on a dangerous 20-minute pursuit around Newcastle has been jailed.
Liam Storey was so determined to evade police that he ignored red lights and reached speeds of up to 80mph through Newcastle streets on Saturday evening. But the 31-year-old’s haste got the better of him as he lost control of the silver BMW he was driving, clipping his rear wheel off a traffic island which caused the tyre to deflate.
That allowed officers from the force’s Motor Patrols Department to bring the vehicle to a halt– and bring Storey into custody.
