Parents have been left shocked after a character blurts out the word "b****cks" in the new Tom Hanks film Pinocchio.
The new remake of the classic Disney film was only released last week on the streaming platform Disney+, but already it has been slammed as ‘offensive’ by mums and dads.
The film shows the story of wooden puppet turned boy Pinocchio, who runs away from home to join the circus.
However, at one point in the film, a devilish coachman yells out the swear word after Pinocchio escapes Pleasure Island by jumping off a cliff.
Speaking to The Sun, one shocked father said: “What were they thinking?
"Disney is supposed to be family friendly and they could have easily cut it out."
As a result of the complaints, Ofcom have ruled the word as ”medium offensive".
Despite only being released for viewing on September 8, Pinocchio has already been panned by critics with Empire Magazine giving it just two out of five stars.
On social media, parents have also been discussing the curse word. One mother tweeted: “Watching Pinocchio with the girls and there’s a swear word in it. Wasn’t expecting that!”
Another wrote: “If you're planning on watching the new #Pinocchio with ya little ones… just be warned it had a couple swear words in it one we was shocked about and had to rewind to check ,my daughter though it was funny but a character sounds very much like he says B**s.”
“When a character in the new Disney Pinocchio film says bollocks & my entire life of being told that it's a vulgar grown-ups swear word that I'm not allowed to use as a child gets called into question.”
The Mirror has approached Disney for comment.
