Disney+ £1.99 deal for a month's streaming but shoppers must act fast

Disney has unveiled a special offer to get a full month of its streaming service, Disney Plus, for just £1.99 but shoppers will have to be quick to grab the bargain as it's only available for a limited time.

The special offer, which is available for new and lapsed viewers to the popular TV service, is to mark Disney+ Day, an annual celebration of all things Disney. Customers can sign up to get a full month of everything Disney+ has to offer, including popular new shows like Welcome to Wrexham, She-Hulk and the new Hocus Pocus 2 movie that launches in late September, from 5am on Thursday September 8.

But the deal, which is an early highlight of Disney+ Day, is only valid until 7.59am on Tuesday, September 20. Disney has held the special day every autumn for the last four years. This year it has been scheduled to tie in with its D23 Expo which is held in California on Friday (September 9) and sees fans and media from across the world congregate for the latest announcements on everything from film and TV releases to theme park updates.

While UK-based Disney fans won't be able to take advantage of extra times in the Walt Disney World parks or other perks for holidaymakers, Marvel and Star Wars fans particularly will have some things to celebrate. Thursday will also see the launch of a lot of new streaming content available at no extra cost to subscribers, including Taika Waititi's Marvel blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder, a new live-action Pinocchio film and an in-depth documentary going behind the scenes of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

There will also be sing-along versions of Frozen and Frozen 2 and a new Simpsons short focused on Lisa Simpson called Welcome to the Club. The biggest launch is undoubtedly Marvel-flavoured this year though. As well as getting to see Thor: Love and Thunder, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale, at home without having to rent it there is also a special Marvel Studios Assembled documentary on the making of the movie going live on the same day.

The live-action remake of Pinocchio starring Tom Hanks and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will get its premiere. Historically, Disney+ Day and the D23 Expo has seen Disney launch offers around some of its key products and services. While this is just the first, it's worth keeping an eye on Disney Plus UK's social media channels on Thursday for announcements for other discounts.

Meanwhile, updates from D23 on Friday will be released on its official YouTube channel or at D23.com. A month's Disney+ for £1.99 is the best available deal on the market right now and not only allows viewers to enjoy classic Disney films and TV shows but also all the previously launched Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel titles.

Meanwhile there are some critically acclaimed and popular current shows like Ryan Reynolds' and Rob McElhenney's football documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, Marvel's She-Hulk and who-dunnit Only Murders In the Building ripe for binge watching too. If you miss the deal there are several other ways to save money on a Disney+ subscription.

Gamivo are offering TV lovers Disney+ for a whole year for less than £20, nearly £60 less than the original annual price. Disney+ normally costs subscribers either £7.99 a month or £79.90 for the year but shoppers can currently get it for just £18.40 on Gamivo.com so long as they sign up by October 14.

Tesco Clubcard also offers customers the ability to swap Clubcard points for Disney+ subscriptions and a recent email to Delivery Plus customers sees them given three months of the streaming service totally free.

O2 customers keen to bag a bargain can get up to six months free of the subscription and you can also get up to 12 months of Disney Plus for free with selected Samsung Galaxy purchases.
