LEE Anderson has attracted fierce criticism for telling asylum seekers to “f*** off back to France”.
It comes after the first group of migrants boarded the Bibby Stockholm in Dorset on Monday afternoon.
Speaking to the Express, Tory deputy chair Anderson (below) said: “If they don’t like barges then they should f*** off back to France.
“I think people have just had enough. These people come across the Channel in small boats, if they don’t like the conditions they are housed in here then they should go back to France or better not come at all in the first place.”
The comments were met with shock by many people on Twitter, with one describing it as “absolutely disgusting language from an elected official”.
Meanwhile, another said: “Seriously… what happened to British politics,” adding that it was “gutter talk” from Anderson.
A third described the MP as an “utter embarrassment” especially given he is the deputy chair of his party.
“Just nasty. Very nasty”, said another social media user. Somebody else said the comments showed “there are no standards in public office left in Rishi Sunak’s government”.
Anderson’s comments come after it was revealed that the UK Government has explored a “potential site” to house an asylum barge in Glasgow.
The city council said it “has made it clear to the Home Office that it does not support such a move”.
When approached by The National, the Home Office declined to comment.
