Disfigured Tony Ferguson released from hospital after brutal knockout at UFC 274

Tony Ferguson was released from hospital on Sunday after Michael Chandler knocked him out with a sickening front kick at UFC 274.

Ferguson's face - which has been compared to a chicken nugget by Conor McGregor - was squashed by Chandler's brutal blow in the second round of their fight before he fell to the floor in concerning scenes.

El Cucuy was out cold for nearly two minutes and was sent to the hospital to undergo additional checks as a precaution. Thankfully, the CT scans on his brain were negative and he was let go to sleep in his own bed, reports The Daily Star.

The KO was the highlight of the night and sent not only the fans, but also Chandler wild. Bouncing back from successive defeats to Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje, he celebrated with several backflips inside the Octagon which were just as impressive as the finish.

Dana White also hailed the strike which had Ferguson seeing stars. "That was the most vicious knockout I've ever seen," the UFC chief declared in the post-fight press conference.

Ferguson is now on a four-fight losing streak, but White feels he's still got plenty left in the tank, adding: "He looked damn good in that first round. But that was a vicious knockout.

"I think what needs to happen now is Tony needs to take some time off after that knockout. I don't know what's next for him.

"But it's not like, 'Oh my God, Tony got dominated and looks like he doesn't belong here.' Tony looked damn good right up until he got caught.

"And you know in this game that anybody can get caught with anything." Chandler, meanwhile, is targeting another shot at the lightweight crown after Gaethje lost to Oliveria, who has vacated the belt after failing to make weight for their fight."
