Disappointing Cardiff City player ratings as Everton loanee has day to forget but Kipre impresses

Ryan Allsop 6

Not much he could have done about the goal. Reacted reasonably well to some nervy moments.

Perry Ng 7

Did quite well with the ball on the deck. Got into some decent attacking opportunities, and stood up to his man impressively. No Cardiff player made more tackles.

Cedric Kipre 7 STAR MAN

Solid as ever. Dominant in the air again, and made some very tidy interceptions. Oozed composure once again. A last-ditch tackle to deny Jack Rudoni unquestionably the highlight of another good display.

Jack Simpson 5

Nowhere near the performance we saw at Boro. Looked nervous under pressure and lucky not to put it beyond his own keeper. Made a mistake that nearly cost his side a second goal late on.

Mahlon Romeo 6

Probed reasonably well down the right, but perhaps could have looked after the ball better at times. Work-rate was superb, and his performance admittedly improved a little after the break. Subbed.

Ryan Wintle (c) 6

Perhaps lucky to escape punishment for a heavy challenge midway through the first half. Tried so hard to make something happen with some really nice balls into the box. Just didn't click for him, sadly.

Andy Rinomhota 5

One of several too sloppy in possession in the first half, but improved after the break. Some nice interplay with Robinson and Sawyers in the second half, but we just didn't see enough of it. Subbed.

Niels Nkounkou 4

Lost his rag with Holmes early on and never quite recovered his composure. Some really poor touches in the first half, and some horrific misplaced passes. Just looked really uncomfortable.. Subbed.

Callum O'Dowda 6

Was a reasonable threat all afternoon. Moved to wingback after Nkounkou's withdrawal, which actually made Cardiff look better defensively.

Jaiden Philogene 4

Just couldn't really make anything happen as part of the front three. Dispossessed a little too easily at times, and couldn't shake off the attentions of the Huddersfield defence. Just didn't get going. Subbed.

Callum Robinson 6

A really, really poor penalty miss, but recovered quite well. Was the focal point in attack for much of the afternoon, although he seldom looked like scoring. Looked desperate to get on the ball and rectify his earlier miss, and that in itself deserves credit.

Subs

Romaine Sawyers (on for Nkounkou 45) - A fairly decent showing. Calmed things down in midfield and show some classy touches. 6

Mark Harris (on for Philogene 45) - Ran the channels as well as ever, but faded as the second half wore on. 5

Rubin Colwill (on for Romeo 70) - Plenty of effort down the right hand side, but couldn't find that killer ball. 6

Tom Sang (on for Ng 82) - Looked after the ball quite well. Some nice passes and a decent set-piece delivery. 6

Sheyi Ojo (on for Rinomhota 90+1) - N/A
