Disabled woman lives on pasties to afford £5,000 energy bill for electric wheelchair

A disabled woman has been forced to live on pastries to afford the upkeep of her wheelchair ahead of an expected £5,000 energy bill.

Anastasia Tempest relies on her electric wheelchair to do basic everyday tasks that others "take for granted".

The Yorkshire freelance journalist and writer, who has cerebral palsy, said her electricity bills have rocketed because of the rising cost of living and her reliance on her electric wheelchair to get around. “I can’t afford to not charge the electric wheelchair because otherwise I’m not able to move,” she told the PA news agency.
