Dirty Pop: The legendary club night run by two friends that's inspired a whole generation of party-goers

"We've been doing Dirty Pop at Clwb Ifor Bach for nearly 14 years, and now it's time for us to rest."

That was the farewell message friends Ian Cottrell and Esyllt Williams, founders and DJs at one of Cardiff's best-loved club nights Dirty Pop, posted on social media. Receiving hundreds of comments and likes after posting the update, it's clear that this is no ordinary club night. It's a community staple that has touched the lives of countless party goers.

14 years ago, the DJs would dedicate their weekends to music. With Esyllt running a record label based in Cardiff dedicated to Welsh language music, and Ian being a prominent DJ on the scene in south Wales, the pair would regularly get together to talk about new pop bangers and music news in general.
