Dirty campers abandoned a tent, a blow-up mattress and a portable toilet at a beauty spot in Glencoe.
The group had occupied the site in the Highlands at the weekend as temperatures soared up to 17°C. The mess was found on Wednesday morning by volunteers from the National Trust for Scotland.
Shocking images show the extent of the filth abandoned at the campsite, with a large trailer filled with black bin bags full of rubbish. Camping chars, fire wood and a portable barbeque among the items to have been tossed.
The disgusted clean-up crew also found a portable toilet dumped by the group by a river. Furious charity bosses have hit out at those responsible and have branded the filthy scenes as 'sad'.
They have urged wild campers to clean up their mess at any campsite and respect the outdoors.
A statement reads: "We were saddened to find a large abandoned campsite on Glencoe at the weekend. Our amazing Rangers and volunteers spent half a day collecting debris and clearing just one site, which included a tent, camping chairs, clothing, and even a portable toilet!
"The Trust has cared for Glencoe since 1935. We work to maintain footpaths, look after the fragile biodiversity and keep the landscape as precious and wild as it was when it first came into our care. Sadly, instances like this make our vital work much harder.
"The right to wild camp comes with a responsibility not to negatively impact on the landscapes you’re coming to enjoy. Please, please, please take everything you bring with you away when you leave."
